Federal Taphouse LLC, a Pennsylvania company, will be opening a Federal Taphouse in the newly constructed Fraser Centre in downtown State College. The restaurant will be located on the 2nd floor next to the lobby of the new Hyatt Place Hotel. The full-service restaurant and bar will have a draft count of 100 craft beers, 10 wines on tap and craft spirits.
Federal Taphouse’s scratch kitchen specializes in farm-to-table by utilizing local products when available and offering an assortment of charcuterie items, hand cut meats, artisan pizza and seafood from the eastern shore. One of the staples of the restaurant is the use of natural fuels like hard woods and mesquite charcoal throughout the majority of their cooking practices. The restaurant will have a catering department for on and off premise events as well as serving the conference and event facilities within the Hyatt Place Hotel. The State College location will employ 50 full time and 30 part time employees. Recruitment will commence in late June this year.
The restaurant in State College will be co-located in Fraser Centre with several nationally recognized retail tenants.
Federal Taphouse currently has locations in Harrisburg PA and Lancaster PA. Federal Taphouse and Federal Taphouse & Wine Bar are the brain trust of Corey Fogarty and Judd Goodman, both previous Penn State students. After going their own ways in the 90’s and early 2000’s and opening restaurants throughout Pennsylvania, Alabama and Florida; they joined forces in 2012 to create a chain that specializes in craft beer and scratch-made cuisine.
